Grade Calculator
Add your assignments with their scores and weights to find your current grade in a class.
How to use the grade calculator
- Add a row for each category: homework, quizzes, midterm, project, final, and so on.
- Enter your score (as a percent) and the weight of that category from your syllabus.
- Your overall grade and letter grade update immediately.
The weights do not have to add up to 100. The calculator divides by the total weight you enter, so you can see your grade so far before every assignment is done.
The formula
Grade = sum of (score × weight) ÷ sum of weights
Example: Homework 95% (20%), midterm 82% (30%), project 90% (20%), final 78% (30%). That is 19 + 24.6 + 18 + 23.4 = 85.0%, a B.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my grade with weights?
Multiply each score by its weight, add the results, then divide by the total of the weights. The calculator does this for you.
What if I only have some of my grades so far?
Enter only the categories you have grades for. The calculator divides by their total weight so you see your current standing.
How do I enter points instead of percentages?
Divide the points you earned by the points possible and multiply by 100. For example 45 out of 50 is 90%.
Is weighted the same as average?
No. A plain average treats every score equally. A weighted grade lets big items like exams count more than small ones like homework.
